Happy October everyone! Let’s venture around the globe through snacks! This month we are featuring both domestic and international snacking options. Come take a closer look and discover why we think they are so unique.
South Africa
BOS is from Bos County in South Africa. It is an un-caffeinated, antioxidant rich rooibos tea with many health benefits. The owner’s mission was to bring a piece of South Africa into the more centralized food channel.
Kalahari Biltong is one of our newest, interest peaking offerings. The product was introduced to our channel by their founder whose mission is to provide a “South African tradition of enjoying beef in its simplest, unaltered form”. Kalahari Biltong is low calorie, high protein with zero grams of added sugar and is taking a lead in the snack market.
South Korea
Ocean’s Halo seaweed originates from a protected bay in South Korea. Their seaweed is organic, naturally gluten-free and vegan, and utilizes only real ingredients in their recipes. Ocean’s Halo also donates 2% of their profits to the Children’s Education Fund which helps children visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium for free.
Europe
Belgian Boys was created by two men from Belgium who had moved to the US at the age of 18. They had the brilliant idea of introducing their stroopwafels to the US public. So, they started up a bakery, and the rest was history!
Oloves was started by a couple living in Spain who had made individual snack bags of olives to serve as an alternative snacking option for beach goers. They were such a hit that they brought the idea back home and have been sharing their “guilt-free” snack ever since.
Australia
Noosa was started by a woman native to Noosa, Australia where she built a following for her yoghurt. She then brought the product to Colorado to start distribution in the US. She claimed it was “literally the best thing she had ever tasted” and needed to share the yoghurt experience!
Canada
Teaja Organic was founded in 2013 by a team of successful entrepreneurs and leaders in the food and tea industry. Teaja Organic’s team includes North America’s most awarded, in-house Tea Master. With the goal to create a line of “superior quality organic loose-leaf teas”, Teaja Organic’s blends utilize healthful, premium ingredients, available in an attractive, office-friendly display.
North America
Verve Coffee Roasters was created from the joint love of surf and life in Santa Cruz, CA. Though Co-founders Colby and Ryan have expanded Verve globally, they have made a point to keep the roots of the company right here in the Bay. Verve roasts various types of coffee beans and they have an array of unique coffee shops throughout the Bay Area.
Skyhill Honey is a very close-to-heart company for us at Associated. Skyhill Honey is all locally sourced through Skyhill Farms in Napa Valley. This high-quality honey is produced by bees that live in the environment, which in turn, helps increase and protect their population. After all, bees are one of the most crucial parts to our ecosystem.
